Youth is in the spotlight at SCO
Representative of the Youth wing of UzLiDeP:
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an authoritative international organization that has become an effective mechanism for multilateral cooperation. The organization is aimed at a safe and stable future, therefore it is important to ensure close attention to the issues of youth, and so, only the youth is over 60% in Uzbekistan.
In this regard, UzLiDeP believes that one of the important events of the summit became the adoption, at the proposal of the President of Uzbekistan, of a joint appeal of the heads of states of the SCO to youth. At the same time, special responsibility for the implementation of this program will fall on the SCO Youth Council, in whose activities Uzbekistan is sure to take a very active part. One of the important outcomes of the work should be the participation of the SCO countries in the development and adoption of the UN International Convention on the Rights of Youth.
UzLiDeP considers this initiative of Uzbekistan in the SCO as another step towards the formation of a sustainable immunity to the ideology of terrorism and extremism among the younger generation. Unfortunately, the youth for today became the object for various kinds of destructive and terrorist forces, striving through manipulation of immature consciousness of young men and girls to lure them into the web of their delusions and obscurantism. Our party believes that interstate cooperation within the framework of the SCO will become an important mechanism to protect young people from various destructive ones by creating conditions for them to receive modern education, strengthening interethnic and intercultural relations between countries.
For its part, the Youth wing of UzLiDeP will continue to work on the upbringing of harmoniously developed younger generation who have modern knowledge and professions in the spirit of respect for national and universal values, to form loyalties to the Motherland and their people among young men and girls, and promote a healthy lifestyle among them. We are confident that these tasks are consonant with all the SCO member countries. All this will protect young people from such dangers as extremism, terrorism, crime, drug addiction, etc.
In general, the party believes that the youth policy in the SCO can be considered as one of the priority directions of interstate dialogue. First of all, it is necessary to pay attention to the issues of improving the education and enlightenment system, creating an effective system for introducing young people to the most modern knowledge. The SCO is called upon to expand the full cooperation between representatives of the younger generation of member states in various fields of activity. The organization can also contribute to the establishment of a dialogue between youth organizations willing to fight any manifestations of extremism and terrorism.
Acting Chairman of the Surkhandarya regional council of UzLiDeP:
All of us today witness, how the role of the SCO is being strengthened in the formation of regional and global policies, ensuring security and sustainable development of the Eurasian continent.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the 18th meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in the city of Qingdao. This summit will go down in history as the first meeting of leaders of the “Shanghai eight”, bringing together one and a half billion people. All this greatly expanded the economic and intellectual potential of the SCO.
UzLiDeP is confident that the recently held international conference on Afghanistan in Tashkent became an important platform for exchanging views on peaceful settlement of the conflict.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his speech noted that one of the key factors for achieving the basic goals of the organization and solving the challenges it faces is stability and prosperity of Central Asia.
I would like to note that our party is interested in the implementation of the agreements related to the expansion of trade and economic cooperation and the strengthening of cooperation. This is due to the fact that they contribute to increasing the volume of trade of Uzbekistan with the SCO states. UzLiDeP stands for the importance of further simplifying the procedures for export-import transactions and the formation of agro-industrial clusters based on the principles of public-private partnership.
In conclusion, it should be note that the Action Plan on implementation of provisions of the Treaty on long-term good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation of the SCO member states will be the basis for further movement in this direction. In particular, they concern the development of socio-economic cooperation, the improvement of transport and logistics potential of the region, the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties, the protection of youth from the ideas of extremism and other pressing issues.
