Uzbekistan – France: new horizons of cooperation

The meeting of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the President of the French Senate, which held during the official visit of the head of our state to the French Republic, indicates the beginning of a new stage in the long-term inter-parliamentary relations of our countries. The development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and France is an important factor in strengthening the centuries-old interactions of peoples.

It should be noted that cooperation has deep historical foundations that have linked the two countries since the time of our great ancestor Sahibkiran Amir Temur and King of France Charles VI. The centuries-old history of interaction between our ancestors is reflected in the current inter-parliamentary dialogue, being the basis for the development of bilateral cooperation. The parliaments of the two states now have friendship groups and within ten years there is a constant exchange of parliamentary delegations. During the meetings of parliamentarians, along with the experience of legislative work, topical issues of the socio-political, socio-economic and cultural-humanitarian life of the two countries, as well as issues of global security are actively discussed.

Today, France is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and one of the leading European Union countries. With a long tradition of democracy and the protection of human rights, interests and freedoms, France enjoys great prestige in the international community. It is a country with a developed market economy, promoting new, innovative approaches and technologies in all spheres, which occupies the leading position in the world on the level of industrial production and agriculture.

The people of France, who has a rich centuries-old culture with special interest refers to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, to our historical cities, art. This can be the basis for the future development of Uzbek-French relations.

We are confident that the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France will open up new horizons and will give a powerful impetus to the strengthening and further development of trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural-humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and France. An active and effective inter-parliamentary dialogue, in turn, will serve as a dynamic and constructive relationship between France and Uzbekistan.
