The basis of inter-party competition is the activity of factions

The idea that in order to strengthen inter-party competition, the factions should lead in parliamentary activity - has become one of the main conclusions at a joint meeting of the Executive Committee of the Political Council of UzLiDeP and its faction in the parliament.

As previously reported, the priority tasks of the party arising from the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the parliament of the country – the Oliy Majlis were discussed. The issues of strengthening the role and participation of UzLiDeP structures in the implementation the ideas, proposals and initiatives of the Address, including the need to strengthen inter-party competition were considered at the meeting.

- One of the topical problems, raised by the head of our country in the Address, was the issue of inter-party competition, or rather, its absence, - noted the acting Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Political Council of UzLiDeP B. Yakubov. – It is known that any democratic society develops based on the principles of multi-party system. In turn, it is difficult to imagine a real multi-party system without competition between political parties. The competitive environment between political parties is present in the adoption of laws and other documents in the law-based States. Uzbekistan is also part of a number of States that are on the path of democratic development based on such multi-party system. These are all simple truths, aren't they?

But to the great regret, such competition is not felt either during the discussion of laws or when considering the draft state budget of the country. The reason is that in the activities of the lower house of parliament, committees and other structures of parliament still play a major role. Therefore, in order to strengthen inter-party competition in the parliament, it is necessary that factions of political parties play a leading role, and then they will be able to actively defend the interests of their electorate. The practice of states with a long history in the field of parliamentarianism testifies directly to this.

Strengthening of inter-party competition would help to improve the quality of laws and increase the legislative initiatives of deputies.

Time itself requires the adoption of appropriate amendments to the laws in this direction, and UzLiDeP will certainly make its proposals in this field, - B. Yakubov said in his speech.
