Today we all are going through a difficult time. We will certainly successfully pass this way. Because in this difficult and dangerous situation, the government takes concrete and correct decisions under the leadership of the President. Decisions taken are implemented at the highest level. Our people, having experienced a lot in their history, are demonstrating unity and helping the government. And therefore, I can say that we will courageously overcome this disease.

As evidence that the government is responsibly executing its tasks at this difficult time, we can cite the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers adopted on April 2 this year on organization of a modern potato cluster in Tashkent region.

Special attention in the resolution is paid to harvesting high-grade, early-ripe, disease-resistant seed potatoes. The goal is to meet the needs of the country’s population in qualitative and cheap potatoes.

Agricultural specialists know that currently there is a high demand for an increase in seed potatoes in the field of potato growing based on the virus-free in vitro technology. This will be facilitated by the science-based experience used in the re-sowing system. The time requirement is the organization and development of the creation of seeds of local and foreign breeding and biotechnological varieties and the establishment of effective cooperation in this direction with local and foreign organizations.

According to the resolution, “Boʻstonliq kartoshkachilik markazi” LLC will lease 1,400 hectares of unused land in Bostanlyk district for a period of at least thirty years. We hope that this initiative will be supported in all territories of the country.

Currently, the issue of food security, as for all countries, is also relevant for Uzbekistan. As the demand for food products increases, in connection with an increase in the population, the demand per capita also increases.

Based on this, in the last three years, our country has fundamentally changed its attitude to ensuring food security, improving the quality and export of agricultural products, these issues have become a priority for government policy. A reasonable policy is being pursued to develop agriculture, one of the main sectors of the economy and ensuring food security. Production and import of products in the country are carried out at a proportional level. As the President noted, the goal of the reforms carried out in the agricultural sector is to obtain economic profit, while ensuring food security and improving the wellbeing of people. And this should not be forgotten.

Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on creation of a modern potato cluster in Tashkent region became a practical reflection of tasks designed for many years. At the same time, this resolution can be considered an important document adopted on these difficult days.
