Bilateral cooperation, raised to a new level

Abdukadirov, member of the UzLiDeP faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

— The Republic of Korea is a highly developed state with high economic, scientific-technical, innovative and intellectual potential. The state visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Korea at the invitation of President Moon Jae-in opened a new stage towards further development of cooperation of the two countries based on traditional friendship and mutual trust.

During the negotiations, there was an exchange of views on priority areas of further development of bilateral cooperation for the long term, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

So, the complex of financing issues of large investment projects, further intensification of cooperation in the spheres of economy, energy, finance, investments, high technologies, increasing the trade turnover, expansion of humanitarian ties, strengthening cooperation between ministries and departments were discussed at the negotiations.

Within the framework of the visit, over 60 documents worth more than 10 billion dollars were signed in trade-economic, investment, financial, technical and other spheres. Of these, 4,5 billion dollars are direct investment.

UzLiDeP believe that the reached agreements and the signed documents will serve the consistent development of strategic partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, further improving the welfare of our countries and people.

The Republic of Korea is one of the leading trade, economic and investment partners of Uzbekistan in the Asia-Pacific region. Following the results of 2016, the trade turnover between our countries exceeded one billion US dollars. These and other examples are manifestations of cooperation based on openness, mutual understanding and respect for interests.

UzLiDeP believes that the results of the visit were significant steps towards the consistent development of strategic partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea. The signed agreements will promote a fuller use of the existing potential and opportunities for developing mutually beneficial cooperation, further improving the indicators in this direction.

Kim, candidate for deputies from UzLiDeP to the Mirabad district Kengash (Council) of People's Deputies of the city of Tashkent:

— Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea are firmly bound by traditional friendship, relations of mutually beneficial cooperation and strategic partnership. South Korea has traditionally been a leading investment and technology partner in implementing priority programs on diversification and modernization of industry and infrastructure of our country.

The large Korean diaspora plays an important role in supporting friendly relations between our states and further rapprochement of our people. This diaspora is the largest in the CIS (more than 180 thousand people), by number is on the fourth place in the world. This year, our country widely celebrated the 80th anniversary of the ethnic Koreans living in Uzbekistan.

Separately, I would like to highlight the publication of the book “President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev”, in the Korean language, published in circulation of 50 thousand copies and dedicated to the first anniversary of activity of Shavkat Mirziyoyev as President of Uzbekistan.

Dozens of major projects with participation of large banks and companies of South Korea have been implemented and continue to be realized in various sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan. It should be noted that the State Committee for Investments in Uzbekistan and the South Korean company POSCO Daewoo Corporation ("PDC") signed an agreement on the construction of a technological center "High Tech City" in Tashkent for a total cost of 1.4 billion dollars.

Within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea at the invitation of President Moon Jae-in, Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the mayor's office of Seoul. The President of Uzbekistan was awarded the title of honorary citizen of Seoul.

At the current meeting, special attention was paid to the use of advanced experience of South Korea in the field of city management, development of the transport system, housing and communal services on the basis of modern technologies. All this, according to UzLiDeP, shows the importance of active interaction between Tashkent and Seoul in the spheres of urban planning, architecture and landscape design.

In this context, I would like to emphasize that on December 24 this year elections of people's deputies will be held in the regional Kengashes of the capital. The establishment of the Kengashes of People's Deputies in the districts of the capital plays an important role in the formation and adoption of the local budget, promising programs for the development of districts at the district level. In this regard, I would like to emphasize that our party will seek to use all the best experience of the capitals of the world, including Seoul, to give Tashkent the look and living conditions of the leading megacities.
