The Executive Committee of the Political Council of UzLiDeP organized a round table on "Deeply thought out currency reform as an important factor in further improving the business environment" to discussed the essence and meaning of the Decree of the President of our country, “On priority measures of liberalizing foreign exchange policy” of September 2, 2017.

Deputies, representatives of ministries and departments, banks, experts, entrepreneurs and media took part in the conversation.

It was noted that in the decree it is acknowledged that "excessive administrative regulation in foreign currency circulation has created an inefficient system of privileges and preferences for some industries and business entities, has led to unequal conditions for doing business and violations of market principles and has become a retarding factor for attracting foreign investment, increasing exports of goods and services, in general economic development of the country."

The liberalization of foreign exchange policy will allow individuals and legal entities to freely sell and purchase foreign currency, establish the exchange rate of the national currency solely on the basis of market mechanisms, increase exports, create the necessary business environment for attracting foreign investment in the economy.

During the event representatives the Central Bank, the Ministry of Economy and other responsible departments answered participants' questions and noted that the government develops draft measures to mitigate the effects of currency policy liberalization, including measures to ensure financial stability of the banking system, financial support for basic industries, optimize rates of customs payments, and strengthen state support for socially vulnerable segments of the population.

In general, the participants of the conversation noted that this step demonstrates the strong political will of the head of our state to remove any obstacles to the entry of our country into the number of modern developed countries.

Participants noted that now all activists and members of UzLiDeP entrepreneurs and farmers should work selflessly and conscientiously, make a feasible contribution to the success of the common cause. Relevant recommendations have been worked out on the issues discussed.
