Towards an Inclusive Society

Today, the UzLiDeP Political Council’s Executive Committee and the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party faction in the Oliy Majlis Legislative Chamber held a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the “Towards an Inclusive Society” project.

The project aims to adapt and specialize public infrastructure to ensure safe and unrestricted movement for people with disabilities, provide equal educational opportunities at all levels, and ensure that individuals with disabilities can study in an inclusive environment rather than relying solely on home-based education.

Another key focus of the project is the creation of job opportunities for people with disabilities, providing entrepreneurial training, and expanding their employment prospects. To achieve this, awareness campaigns will be conducted among entrepreneurs to familiarize them with existing legal benefits and incentives designed to support the employment of individuals with disabilities.  Additionally, the project seeks to promote values of respect, tolerance, and humanitarianism in society while enhancing the social support system for people with disabilities. These efforts aim to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with special needs.

The project also aims to provide practical assistance to people with disabilities for their personal, social, and economic development while increasing public awareness of their benefits and rights.

During the Organizing Committee meeting, several key issues were discussed, including aligning legislation on protecting the rights of people with disabilities with international standards, increasing social responsibility for their employment and integration into the workforce, supporting inclusive and continuous education by ensuring that people with disabilities have direct access to general secondary schools, educational institutions, and universities, these efforts are designed to promote greater inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunities for people with disabilities in all aspects of life.

As part of the project, steps will be taken to gradually reduce home-based education and encourage students with disabilities to attend educational institutions in person. UzLiDeP volunteer youth clubs will be established within educational institutions to support this transition. These clubs will provide moral and social support for young people with disabilities. Additionally, the project outlines measures to enhance accessibility in shops, supermarkets, markets, restaurants, and public service areas, ensuring a more inclusive and disability-friendly environment.
