UzLiDeP and CPC sign a Memorandum of Cooperation

Uzbekistan and China are currently maintaining a dynamic and effective dialogue across a wide range of intergovernmental areas. Numerous agreements are in force between the two countries, covering sectors such as innovation, green energy, environmental protection, human resource development, scientific research, and more.

It is worth noting that Chinese investment in Uzbekistan has reached $25 billion, an indication of growing confidence in the country’s economy and recognition of Uzbekistan as a key strategic partner in Central Asia. These agreements and investments not only strengthen economic ties but also enable Uzbekistan to modernize its production capacities, infrastructure, and transport corridors, aligning with the country’s long-term goals for sustainable economic development.

All of this has been made possible through high-level contacts between the leaders of both countries. On January 24 of last year, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Xi Jinping agreed to develop an all-weather, comprehensive strategic partnership entering a new phase. As part of the implementation of high-level agreements aimed at deepening cooperation across all areas, Liu Jianchao, Head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, visited Uzbekistan.

On March 29 of this year, Liu Jianchao met with Aktam Khaitov, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Political Council of UzLiDeP. The meeting was also attended by Yu Jun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Uzbekistan. The guests were introduced to the modern activities of UzLiDeP, including the party’s role and position in the country’s reform process, as well as the implementation of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy. In turn, the representatives of UzLiDeP were briefed on the CPC’s policy of building relations with friendly states.

During the conversation, it was noted that the visit of the CPC representative is an essential indicator of the successful development of inter-party cooperation. Relations between UzLiDeP and the Communist Party of China are built on a solid foundation. For instance, the UzLiDeP delegation has participated in various CPC-hosted events, including the High-Level Dialogue between the CPC and political parties from foreign countries, the Forum on “Building a Strong Political Party: Challenges and Prospects”, and the “China – Central Asia” Political Parties Dialogue, among others.

As part of the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between UzLiDeP and the Communist Party of China. It was emphasized that this document forms an integral component of the all-weather strategic partnership between the two countries. Key priorities highlighted in the memorandum include collaboration on implementing the goals outlined in the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy and the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as expanding inter-party dialogue. This includes cooperation between youth and women’s wings, exchanges between party-affiliated publications, and coordination between regional branches.

Following the event, it was emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum would serve as a new agenda for both parties to advance multifaceted cooperation.
