“Appeal – Oversight – Result” to become the primary criterion for deputies’ activities

Navoi Regional Council of UzLiDeP hosted an open discussion involving deputies from the regional, district, and city Councils.

The activities of 80 members of deputy groups were reviewed critically and analytically. The discussion examined deputies’ meetings with the public, voter appeals, the use of deputy inquiries, and their participation in addressing local issues. According to the reporting period results, 33 deputies were classified in the green category, 17 in the yellow category, and 18 in the red category. The main emphasis was not on assessing deputies’ activities quantitatively, but on their public engagement and the results achieved.

During the dialogue, the need to strengthen the “appeal – oversight – result” principle in deputies’ activities was emphasized. In particular, key tasks included helping people escape poverty, providing employment for unemployed citizens, involving families in entrepreneurship, and expanding access to loans and subsidies. It was noted that a household-by-household approach should be used to study the problems of families in need, identify their capabilities and interests, help them find suitable sources of income, and monitor the process until tangible results are achieved. It was proposed that, when evaluating deputies’ performance at the end of the year, particular attention should be paid to practical indicators such as the number of families lifted out of poverty, the number of unemployed citizens provided with jobs, and the number of families engaged in entrepreneurship.

The meeting also proposed establishing an exchange of experience among deputies. From now on, increasing employment, raising family incomes, supporting entrepreneurship, and ensuring a tangible outcome for every appeal will remain priority areas in the activities of UzLiDeP deputy groups.
