A regular meeting of the UzLiDeP faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis was held. It first covered the significance of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Hungary on May 19-21.

It was noted that diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Hungary were established on March 14, 1992. Since then, the two countries have maintained open dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation. Thanks to the efforts of the heads of state, bilateral relations have risen to an entirely new level in recent years.

Faction members, highlighting the importance of this visit, emphasized that it would open a new chapter in bilateral relations across all areas and, in turn, further strengthen friendly and mutually advantageous ties between the two countries.

In recent years, mutual visits and meetings of parliamentary delegations of the two countries have intensified. It was emphasized that the meeting held with László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, during the visit created a foundation for further expanding and enriching the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Hungary, including inter-parliamentary cooperation.

During the discussions, based on the outcomes of the visit, the priority tasks facing UzLiDeP and its parliamentary faction were identified.

The meeting also centered on the draft law “On introducing amendments and addenda to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at increasing the responsibility of conformity assessment bodies and providing benefits to entrepreneurs who voluntarily recall their products”.

In recent years, extensive work has been carried out to introduce modern methods into conformity assessment processes. Requirements aimed at protecting the life and health of consumers have been strengthened in this sphere. At the same time, the increasing violations committed by conformity assessment bodies indicate the need to tighten measures for breaches of conformity assessment rules.

This draft law introduces amendments and additions to the Civil Code, as well as to the Laws “On consumer protection”, “On standardization”, and “On technical regulation”. These changes aim to increase the responsibility of conformity assessment bodies and encourage business entities to voluntarily withdraw from selling products that do not meet the relevant requirements.

Faction members gave special attention to the substance and importance of the draft law, raising clarifying questions with the initiators regarding specific provisions. Following debates and prolonged questions and answers, the draft law was supported by the deputies.

The meeting also featured lively discussions on the draft law “On introducing amendments and addenda to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of the privatization sphere of state property”.

The draft law introduces amendments and additions to thirteen laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as to the Land Code and the Tax Code, aimed at simplifying the privatization and leasing of state assets and creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs in this sphere.

This document aims to enhance the privatization system of state property, outline the powers of authorized bodies in this field, and promote private ownership through the privatization and leasing of state assets and land plots.
