Public hearing calls for stronger “entrepreneur – mahalla – local administration – bank” cooperation
Measures to reduce poverty and ensure employment were discussed, with participation from deputies of the Khorezm Regional and Khonqa District Councils of People’s Deputies. At the public hearing, Sirojiddin Abdullayev, head of the Khonqa District Department for Poverty Reduction and Employment Promotion, presented information on measures being implemented in mahallas to increase household incomes, provide unemployed residents with stable sources of income, support business entities, and create new jobs.
It was noted that this year, under investment programs, 58 business entities are expected to launch projects valued at 926 billion UZS and create 2,179 new jobs. Particular attention is being paid to hiring unemployed members of low-income families for these positions. In addition, 22 mobile and lightweight-structure business facilities have been established using entrepreneurs’ own funds, creating more than 38 new jobs. Six unemployed members of low-income families listed in the Social Register have been employed in these positions.
Following the public hearing, tasks were assigned to identify unemployed and low-income families in each mahalla and to strengthen targeted measures to provide them with permanent sources of income. In particular, the need was emphasized to expand home-based work, family entrepreneurship, and service-sector activities, to provide entrepreneurs with targeted access to loans and other forms of support, and to strengthen measures to employ citizens who have completed vocational training.
It was also proposed to strengthen cooperation among entrepreneurs, mahallas, local administrations, and banks to address issues related to land, infrastructure, credit, and electricity promptly. Other proposals included creating additional jobs by launching new projects, setting unemployment-reduction targets for each mahalla, and ensuring regular oversight of their implementation by the deputy group.
