A roundtable discussion was held at the Executive Committee of the Political Council of UzLiDeP within the framework of the “Support for the Elderly” and “Care for the Elderly” projects, dedicated to strengthening comprehensive support for older people and improving the system of social services provided to them.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairmen of the Executive Committee of the Political Council of UzLiDeP D. Shoumarov and G. Khudoyorova, members of the party faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, as well as representatives of the National Agency for Social Protection, the Ministry of Health, the Off-Budgetary Pension Fund under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the “Nuroniy” Foundation, and the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.

During the roundtable discussion, several proposals were made to increase the number of free vouchers provided to older people for treatment in sanatoriums. In particular, suggestions were put forward to increase the number of sanatoriums based on public-private partnerships and to issue vouchers to private sanatoriums. Additionally, proposals were discussed to provide preferential loans to older people and to support them financially by increasing interest rates on their bank deposits. 

Following the roundtable, an agreement was reached to develop the concepts for the two aforementioned projects.
