As previously reported, the draft election program of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan is being intensively discussed with the participation of the broad population, entrepreneurs, businesspeople, farmers, and representatives of all sectors of the party’s electorate.

Entrepreneurs and heads of farms operating in the region took part in the discussion of the UzLiDeP election program organized at Bahor Gullari LLC in Qibray district. At the meeting, the party leader, Aktam Khaitov, spoke about the activities carried out in agriculture development at the initiative of UzLiDeP during the past five years. In particular, the Law “On Agriculture” has been adopted in recent years.

According to this law, 464,000 hectares of new and decommissioned land will be allocated to clusters through open competition. In accordance with this, long-term leasing to the population has begun in exchange for the reduction of 200,000 hectares of cotton and grain areas. The party aims to bring the work in this direction to a qualitatively new level. In particular, strict prohibition of the interference of the officials of the party’s state bodies in the business activities, including farmers’ management of their harvest and price determination, development of the law “On Agro-Industry Clusters”, conversion of agricultural land plots into a real market asset, sale of rental rights in installments, has defined the improvement of the legal basis for its use as a collateral subject as its priority. The party considers its main task to satisfy the population’s demand for quality food products fully and to achieve price stability for agricultural products in the domestic market.

Also, in the next five years, the party will focus on establishing branches that help to receive, sort, store, process, and sell the products grown in each neighborhood, creating the legal basis for the development of cooperative relations between farmers and introducing tax incentives for farms that produce organic products.

The participants in the discussion proposed expanding the capabilities of the Council of Farmers, Dehkan Farms, and Owners of Household Lands of Uzbekistan to protect farmers’ rights and determine the repayment terms of loans allocated to them based on seasonality. In addition, they expressed their hope for the party’s help in improving the insurance system of crops and livestock and removing existing barriers to importing high-yielding, disease-resistant plant seeds and seedlings from abroad.
