Since the introduction of social consumption norms, our population has begun to use electricity more efficiently. A study conducted by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms involved 3,500 households from all regions of the country. In addition, the consumption data of 3.5 million natural gas subscribers and 8 million electricity subscribers were analyzed.

According to the results, between May and December 2024, electricity consumption decreased by 1.3 billion kWh (-10.6 percent) compared to the same period in 2023. The most significant reduction in electricity consumption was observed in regions with relatively high initial consumption, such as Samarkand, Tashkent, Andijan, and Namangan.

At the recent session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov noted that the increase in energy tariffs is encouraging citizens to practice greater efficiency. He also emphasized that although tariffs have risen only moderately, social assistance measures are in place. For families earning less than 1 million UZS, if their consumption exceeds 200 kWh, the cost of an additional 150 kWh will be compensated. This ensures that the tariff increase will not negatively affect low-income households.

The UzLiDeP election program also reflects the introduction of energy-saving practices both in consumption and across economic sectors.
