At the meeting of the UzLiDeP faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, draft laws aimed at protecting children from violence, improving the activities of payment system operators and payment organizations, simplifying procedures for registering intellectual property objects, and liberalizing social obligations stipulated in the Labor Code for the private sector were thoroughly discussed.

The session began with a discussion of the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the significance of the agreements reached during the visit.

Faction leader Aktam Khaitov highlighted the importance of this visit, emphasizing that the multifaceted relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, based on the principles of friendship, trust, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership, are rapidly developing.

It was noted that last year the volume of mutual trade reached $1.1 billion, to increase this figure to $2 billion in the coming years, while mutually beneficial cooperation is expanding in energy, transport, agriculture, water management, and other sectors of the economy.

Deputies noted that this visit would contribute to developing multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries. Based on the outcomes of the visit, the tasks facing UzLiDeP and its parliamentary faction were defined.

The meeting also covered several essential draft laws relevant to the life of our country. In particular, the draft law developed at the initiative of UzLiDeP faction members – “On introducing amendments and addenda to the Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at liberalizing social obligations for the private sector” – became the subject of lively discussions.

As noted, this draft law aims to promote entrepreneurship and develop the national economy by improving employer-employee relations in the private sector, reducing informal employment, and ensuring the implementation of UzLiDeP’s pre-election program objectives.

The draft proposes to increase employee responsibility by ensuring the employer’s involvement in the process of withdrawing an application when terminating an employment contract at the employee’s initiative.

It also provides for shifting to a notification procedure when an employment contract is terminated at the employer’s initiative, by simplifying the process of coordination with the trade union committee or the local labor authority.

It is also proposed to improve the grounds for terminating an employment contract due to the employee’s long-term incapacity for work, as well as to abolish the requirement for written notification and compensation payments when terminating the employment contract of employees working part-time in business entities.

During the discussions, faction members Dilmurod Artikov, Tuychi Yoqubov, and Durbek Akhmedov expressed their support for the provisions envisaged in the draft law, while sharing their views and suggestions on the document.

According to the deputies, the adoption of the draft law will help improve labor relations between employers and employees in the private sector, reduce the share of informal employment, and further strengthen guarantees for the reliable protection of the rights and freedoms of both parties.

After debates and a question-and-answer session, the draft law was supported by the deputies.
