A working group, led by the head of the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, is conducting on-site reviews in Andijan region to assess reform implementation and examine issues related to employment, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure.

One such meeting was held in Ulugnor district, where measures were identified to lift 3,556 people from 862 low-income families out of poverty. In Baliqchi district, 400 people are employed at Tetratex LLC, 85 at Vodud 48 LLC, and 250 at LB Sport LLC. In Boston district, more than 180 people work at the Rash Milk enterprise, which exports 45 percent of its products to Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

In Khojaobod district, the working group reviewed Zamon Tekstil’s activities. The company began operations in 2010 with six employees and now produces more than 50 product types, providing over 800 permanent jobs. The group also considered capital repairs to a 12-kilometer stretch of road leading to the Imom Ota tourism village and the reconstruction of Preschool Education Institution No. 3, built in 1957.

In Buloqboshi district, 48 percent of residents in the M. Ismoiliy mahalla are engaged in viticulture. Oltiariq Agrostar is establishing 100 hectares of new vineyards and converting 150 hectares of existing vineyards to seedless varieties. Participants also discussed improving water supply to 683 hectares of farmland in the Oybek, Navoiy, and Uchtepa areas by reconstructing the Ulkan canal and hydraulic structures and building a new substation for the 6.9 MW hydropower plant in Sarvontepa. During meetings with farmers in Boston and Baliqchi districts, the focus was on efficient water use, introducing drip irrigation, and modern agricultural technologies.

It was reported that in Shahrikhon district, 109 transformers and 1,222 concrete utility poles have been installed across 66 mahallas, along with 38.24 kilometers of insulated power lines. In 31 mahallas, 8.13 kilometers of drinking water networks have been built and 23 water pumps installed. In Baliqchi district, the share of families included in the Social Register declined from 4.4 percent at the beginning of the year to 3.9 percent. Plans were also reviewed to build a new 960-seat school to replace the old 240-seat school in the Qiyali mahalla, install special barriers along a 25-kilometer section of the Andijan – Namangan highway passing through Baliqchi district, and repair a 17-kilometer section of the road linking Ulugnor district with Fergana and Namangan regions.

Following the review, attention focused on identifying specific measures to fully utilize the regions’ existing economic and social potential, address infrastructure problems, create new jobs, and increase household incomes.
