Interparty cooperation reaches a new stage
On September 7, 2026, the Executive Committee of the Political Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan met with a delegation led by Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The parties reviewed the current status and future outlook of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China, as well as plans to enhance cooperation between UzLiDeP and the Communist Party of China.
In recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and China have entered a new, more advanced phase. High-level discussions between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Xi Jinping have laid a strong foundation for greater trust and mutually beneficial cooperation.
This progress is also evident in economic indicators. Last year, trade turnover between the two countries reached nearly $18 billion. A target has been set to increase this figure to $30 billion in the coming years. Meanwhile, the portfolio of joint investment projects being implemented in Uzbekistan with Chinese participation totals nearly $60 billion.
It was noted that major transport and transit projects, especially the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway, will significantly strengthen economic relations between the two nations, improve transport connectivity across Central Asia, and create new economic opportunities.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of interparty cooperation as an integral component of strategic interstate relations. It was noted that the Memorandum of Cooperation signed last year between UzLiDeP and the Communist Party of China had created an important legal and political foundation for developing interparty relations in a systematic, long-term manner.
The Memorandum offers extensive opportunities to share experiences in areas such as party building, public engagement, building direct connections between regional organizations, working with youth and women, and collaboration between analytical centers.
The exchange of experience in digital transformation, including the use of artificial intelligence and digital platforms in modern political party activities, along with the development of new mechanisms to engage citizens, was identified as a key area for cooperation. The parties also discussed ways to enhance collaboration between their media outlets and to implement joint media and information initiatives.
During the discussion, the parties focused on the China – Central Asia Political Parties Dialogue recently held in Samarkand. The forum was recognized as an important platform for practical exchanges on party building, personnel training, digital transformation, engagement with youth and women, and fostering ties between regional and public organizations.
The meeting took place in a positive and productive environment. Participants expressed willingness to strengthen current agreements through concrete projects, maintain open communication, and increase experience sharing.
