Karakalpakstan’s most active businesswomen named

The regional stage of UzLiDeP’s “Businesswoman” competition was held in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Organized at the Karakalpak State Academic Musical Theater named after Berdakh as part of the nationwide project “Together with the People”, the competition brought together women from 17 districts and cities who showcased their products, promising projects and entrepreneurial experience.

Participants were evaluated based on criteria such as job creation, employment opportunities for women, production of export-oriented and import-substituting goods, service quality and innovative approaches.

Following the competition, Aygul Tasbayeva from Nukus secured first place and was named the “Most Active Businesswoman” of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. She manages Damir Hotel, Nukus Polimer LLC and a flour production enterprise operating under the Bes Qala brand. These businesses employ more than 500 people, including over 200 women. Exports of Bes Qala products to Afghanistan, valued at $1 million per month, demonstrate the scale of her business operations.

Gulayim Qalbayeva from Qonlikul district took second place for her work in beekeeping, horticulture, poultry farming and agriculture. She has around 30 apprentices. Mariyam Kamalova from Gujim Terek mahalla in Kegeyli district took third place. The entrepreneur, who produces traditional clothing and jewelry, has employed 25 women and exports her products to neighboring countries.

In addition to the top three prizes, awards were presented in several other categories, including “Most Charitable Businesswoman of the Year”, “Female Farmer Recognized for Her Contribution to Rural Social Development”, “Businesswoman Recognized for Her Initiative in Attracting Investment” and “Most Active Young Woman Entrepreneur”.
