More state grants to be allocated for higher education institutions

Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh hosted a campaign meeting with students under the motto “This is my choice, this is my Constitution!” dedicated to the referendum on the draft Constitutional law “On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

The event was attended by a member of UzLiDeP faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Mukhtor Ibragimov, the head of the Nukus City Department of Justice, professors, teachers, university students, media representatives.

Mukhtor Ibragimov informed about the amendments and additions introduced to the Basic Law. It was noted that the document establishes the norms for ensuring for persons with disabilities the conditions for the full use of objects and services of the social, economic and cultural spheres, employment opportunities, education and obtaining the necessary information. Many articles reflect the approach corresponding to the welfare state.

The number of norms regarding education and science has almost doubled. The possibilities of studying citizens in higher education institutions based on the state grant are defined. If until 2017, the number of grants for studying at universities was decreasing, in recent years the situation has changed. The number of grants has been doubled and amounted to 40,000. The number of grants for master’s studies has been increased by 5 times. The Basic Law strengthens the obligations of the state to provide free primary vocational education, protect the honor and dignity of teachers, strengthen their social and material well-being and professional growth. These norms will contribute to professional growth, social and material support, strengthening of authority and status in society for more than 685 thousand teachers of the country.

Based on the above, the activists called on students to actively participate in the referendum to be held on April 30.
