On the observer status in the EAEU
06.05.2020, 11:22
Participation of Uzbekistan in the EAEU as an observer country is a correct and acceptable solution.
Obtaining the status of an observer country in the EAEU is one of the forms of cooperation with this organization.
The observer country does not participate in the adoption of resolutions within the EAEU, but can make proposals in this process and reflect its own point of view. On May 14, 2018, the Supreme Economic Council adopted the regulation “On the status of an observer country in the EAEU”.
It should be noted that countries that have received observer status have the right to participate at the meetings of the EAEU bodies and receive documents accepted by the union of a non-secret nature.
Another aspect – the terms and conditions for the observer status in the EAEU have not been specifically established. In this regard, our country as an observer will have the opportunity to study in detail the issue of joining or not joining full membership of this organization.
