UzLiDeP develops international cooperation

In recent years, one of the important trends in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy is the consistent development and comprehensive strengthening of comprehensive ties with the SCO countries. Political parties also take an active part in this process.

One of such events was participation of UzLiDeP representatives in the international inter-party Forum “SCO+” on “Economy for People”, via videoconference. The event was attended by the leadership of ministries and agencies, the leadership of the ruling parties and business circles of the SCO, BRICS and CIS countries, as well as leading scientists and experts in the political sphere. For example, SCO Secretary-General V.I. Norov, Chairman of the United Russia Party Medvedev D.A., Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Lavrov, Chairman of the Workers’ Party (Brazil) G. Hoffmann, Deputy Chairman of the Justice Party and Development of Turkey on International Issues Yilmaz C., In-Charge for Foreign Affairs of Bharatiya Janata Party (India) Vijay Ch. and others.

Speakers at the Forum from UzLiDeP expressed their position on the widest range of issues raised, based on the provisions of the Development Strategy of Uzbekistan, conceptual reports of the Head of the State at the 75th session of the UN, a joint meeting of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of January 21, 2020, the relevant program provisions and the tasks of the party.

In his speech, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Political Council of UzLiDeP Khaitov A.A. noted that the party is carrying out a large and purposeful work on the implementation of the Action Strategy for the priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, developed on the basis of the Pre-election program of Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Based on this program document, the party sets itself a target task: to ensure consistent entry of Uzbekistan into the number of developed, competitive democracies of the world with a “knowledge-based economy”, “innovative and digital economy”.

Deputies of the faction and members of the Political Council of UzLiDeP within the framework of the inter-party platforms of the Forum’s dialogue indicated that in recent years Uzbekistan has undergone significant transformations in a number of areas, including: liberalization of monetary policy and the economy in general; the growth of political activity of the population and parties; increased attention to gender issues; a fundamental change in the human rights situation; the elimination of forced and child labor; a radical improvement in the situation with ensuring freedom of conscience and religion; raising to a new level the uncompromising fight against corruption, etc.

It was emphasized that today the democratic transformations in Uzbekistan have become irreversible. At the same time, the country, within the framework of “economy for people”, seeks to create equal starting opportunities for everyone, to ensure economic freedom and free competition in all areas.

At the event, intense discussions took place on a number of promising areas of mutually beneficial partnership, an exchange of views on the international agenda within the framework of relevant inter-party platforms. Following the event, it was noted that the last Forum on “Economy for People” clearly shows the high level of relations between Uzbekistan and such authoritative structures of the SCO and CIS, aiming at further development and deepening of strategic partnership and mutually beneficial relations.
