One of the key priorities in our society is to implement effective reforms in the construction sector, ensure the quality of buildings and structures being erected for the population, and enhance the monitoring system.

To this end, at the initiative of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and its parliamentary faction, a roundtable discussion was held on “Poor-quality construction of buildings and structures, shortcomings in construction supervision, and issues related to facility safety”.

Representatives of UzLiDeP, members of parliament, relevant government agencies, industry specialists, and the public participated in the event. The discussion centered on pressing issues in the construction sector, including poor quality and materials, inefficiencies in the technical inspection system, a lack of transparency in the licensing process, cases of corruption, and concerns related to facility safety.

Participants submitted proposals aimed at enhancing legislation, strengthening oversight, increasing public involvement, and integrating digital technologies.

As noted during the roundtable discussion, inspections carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Construction Oversight Inspectorate revealed 396 substandard construction projects. More than 200 cases have been brought to court, and over 100 illegal structures have been demolished.

Following the meeting, it was emphasized that ensuring quality and safety in construction plays a crucial role in the country’s development and in improving the population’s living standards. In this regard, a working group was established to present proposals on legislative and practical reforms to the relevant state bodies.
