Book Festival is organized for young people of Saykhunabad on the initiative of UzLiDeP

During his visit to Syrdarya region in February this year, the President focused on one of the five identified priority areas – improving the culture of reading and interest in reading books among young people.
In order to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks outlined by the Head of the state, a Book Festival was held in Saykhunabad district within the framework of the “Give a child a book”, “Three books to a child” campaigns.
The event was held in cooperation with the Executive Committee of the Political Council of UzLiDeP, the regional branch of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, the regional council of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan, the editorial office of the newspaper “Sirdaryo khaqiqati”, the regional branch of the Center for Spirituality, the district khokimiyat and a number of regional and district organizations and institutions.
For participants of the Festival, students of vocational colleges and schools, the sale of books at reduced prices was organized. Within the framework of the event, the winners were awarded in various nominations of a review competition held by the district Kengash of UzLiDeP, and low-income, socially needy families were presented with books and souvenirs.
– In the context of makhallas we held a competition “Whose house has 500 books?”. Families were identified, the libraries of which had up to 3,000 books, – says the head of the administration of Saykhunabad district Kengash of UzLiDeP Abdujabbor Ernazarov. – For example, the owner of such a library is the director of the 3rd general secondary school Nazir Ganiyev, she was awarded the “Gratitude” of the party.
Memorable gifts from the organizers were given to Ziyoda Ochilova, who opened her home library, as well as Nasiba Aripova and Mukhabbat Bozorboyeva, who have more than 2 thousand books at home.
Propagandists of the book among the population, effectively working in the education system for many years, “Excellent workers of public education” Botir Javlonov, Munira Usmonova, Leela Abdullayeva, Kunduzoy Yusupalieva, Ozoda Navruzova were presented with books. At the Book Festival, over fifty reading lovers were presented with books and memorable gifts from the organizers.
– The Book Festival in the district has become a real holiday, – said Husan Jabborov, head of department for working with youth of Syrdarya regional Kengash of UzLiDeP. – Most participants of the Festival acquired books for their children, grandchildren and loved ones. It is planned that such events will be held in all districts and cities of the region.
A concert was organized following the event, organized by district department of culture.
